README
This is the README for libertine-type1, version 5.3.0 (2012-10-30). This package provides LaTeX and pdfLaTeX support for the Linux Libertine family of fonts. It (and the biolinum-type1 package) are intended to replace the libertine-legacy package which the original developer abandoned and which has several issues that now cannot be addressed. XeLaTex and LuaLaTeX users should refer to the libertineotf package. Legacy documents that do not compile using the libertine compatibility style can be processed by installing the libertine-legacy package under /obsolete/fonts at CTAN. To install this package on a TDS-compliant TeX system unzip the file /install/fonts/libertine-type1.tds.zip at the root of an appropriate texmf tree, likely a personal or local tree. If necessary, update the file-name database (e.g., texhash). Update the font-map files by enabling the Map file libertine-type1.map. To use, add \usepackage{libertine-type1} to the preamble of your document. Options include: oldstyle, osf old-style figures lining,nf lining figures proportional varying-width figures tabular fixed-width figures bold \bfdefault is bold semibold \bfdefault is semibold Defaults are oldstyle, proportional, bold. Available shapes in all series include: it italic sc small caps scit italic small caps Slanted variants are not supported; the designed italic variants will be automatically substituted. The original opentype fonts were created by Philipp H. Poll (gillian at linuxlibertine.org) and are licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (Version 2, with font exception) and under the terms of the Open Font License. For details look into the doc directory of the distribution or at http://www.linuxlibertine.org/ Three of these fonts were modified by Michael Sharpe (msharpe at ucsd.edu) using fontforge to correct minor problems, including adding three missing ligatures (fl, ffl, ffi) to the bold-italic font. These modified fonts are in the opentype sub-directory at /fonts/libertine-type1 at CTAN, but are not in the tds install archive to preclude interference with libertineotf. The type1 fonts were created using fontforge. The support files were created using autoinst. The support files are licensed under the terms of the LaTeX Project Public License. libertine-type1 – (pdf)LaTeX support for the Libertine family of fonts
The package (and the companion biolinum-type1 package of sans serif fonts) replace the libertine-legacy bundle. However, the packages do not provide the range of font shapes available with libertine-legacy.
The support files for the package were generated using the autoinst script.
