+--------------------------------+ | THE COVFONTS PACKAGE | | Scott Pakin, pakin@uiuc.edu | +--------------------------------+ Description =========== The covfonts package provides all of the files needed to make the Apostrophic Laboratories's freely distributable Covington font available to TeX and LaTeX. covfonts.pdf contains some brief documentation and font samples. Installation ============ coving_t1.zip and covingSC_t1.zip contain the unmodified PostScript Type 1 versions of the Covington typeface as downloaded from http://www.apostrophiclab.com/. Copy all of the .pfb files from those ZIP archives into texmf/fonts/type1/public/covfonts. Optionally copy all of the .afm files into texmf/fonts/afm/public/covfonts. Copy the contents of covfonts's texmf subdirectory onto your local texmf directory (e.g., /usr/local/texmf or C:\localtexmf). Run texhash or invoke whatever program is needed to update TeX's filename database. Tell dvips, pdftex, xdvi, yap, etc. to utilize covfonts.map. In the teTeX TeX distribution, this is done by adding covfonts.map (possibly with full pathname) to the extra_modules section of the updmap script (located in texmf/dvips/config/) then running updmap. In other distributions, you may need to add "p +covfonts.map" to your config.ps file (probably also located in texmf/dvips/config/) and, if you use pdfTeX, "map +covfonts.map" to your pdftex.cfg file (probably in texmf/pdftex/config/). Usage ===== Put "\usepackage{covfonts}" in your document's preamble. This replaces Computer Modern with Covington as the default body font. Copyright and License ===================== The Covington fonts (designed by Derek Vogelpohl) are covered by the following license: The fonts on this site are freeware and can be used as they are in any context without permission from Apostrophic Laboratories, except to produce material that is racist, criminal and/or illegal in nature. It is prohibited to modify any Apostrophic Laboratories font(s) for repackaging and/or re-release without an express written authorization by the designer(s) of the font(s) or Apostrophic Laboratories. Under no circumstance shall any Apostrophic Laboratories design or font design be sold or purchased. Email info@apostrophiclab.com if you want more information.
